Accommodations:
Privacy is paramount for extended cruising, and the Hunter 42 with its 2
stateroom, 2 head (both with electric macerator pumps) design keeps it that way.
The sumptuous master stateroom offers a queen size walk around berth with a
custom mattress, incredible storage and hanging lockers, plus a full head with a
shower/tub. The aft shower has a thermostatic-pressure valve which maintains a
constant water temperature automatically; a great water saver. Your family or
friends will not feel slighted in the forward guest quarters. The full size
berth, desk vanity and adjoining head will be a comfortable refuge after a great
day at sea. When the gang is all here, Dakota can sleep 6 with the salon table
lowered and cushions rearranged. All interior seating cushions are soft,
comfortable leather, and there are accordion blinds on all ports for privacy.
Galley:
The galley comes configured with hot/cold pressure water
system, gimbaled LPG three burner stove with oven, galley exhaust fan, Corian
countertops, top and front loading fridge, and top loading freezer, microwave
oven, double stainless steel sinks with single control mixer faucet/sprayer,
generous dry storage and dockside pressure water inlet.
Electronics:
Raymarine SL72RC 2KW radar, integrated with Raymarine GPS chartplotter.
Garmin GPSMap 220 color chartplotter. Autohelm wind speed and wind direction,
Autohelm knotmeter. Autohelm depth sounder, and Autohelm 7000 autopilot. Apelco
5160 marine VHF, Standard Horizon handheld VHF, and Weems & Plath electronic
recording barometer.
Various readings from the Autohelm instruments and
the chartplotters above can be displayed on the Raymarine radar and GPS screens
as well as a laptop computer located down below at the nav station. The laptop
is interconnected to the various electronics via a USB four port RS-232 hub.
Included with the sale of Dakota is The Cap'n navigation software, Weatherfax
2000 and Airmail 2000 (pending approval/authorization of each of the software
manufacturers). The laptop itself is not included in the sale.
Dakota is
also equipped with an Icom IC-706MKIIG, a multi-mode (AM, FM, SSB, RTTY,&
CW) and multi-band (HF, VHF and UHF) amateur radio, and is interfaced to a
Pactor PTC-IIIPro modem for weatherfax and SSB HF e-mail. This particular Icom
radio has been modified to transmit on just about any frequency within its
operating range. It is illegal to use the Icom to transmit on any frequency
other than those in the amateur radio bands, however during an emergency
anything goes and the Icom could be used to transmit on the Marine SSB
frequencies, the Marine VHF frequencies (as a backup to the ship’s VHF radio),
and even the aircraft VHF frequencies (in order to contact a commercial jetliner
flying overhead on the 121.5 MHz aviation emergency frequency). The HF antenna
is the insulated backstay of Dakota, while the combination VHF/UHF antenna is
mounted on the aft quarter rail. This provides some redundancy in the event of a
mast failure, etc.
AM/FM stereo with a 6 CD changer and 4 pair of
individually controlled speakers (forward cabin, main salon, aft cabin &
cockpit), TV with integral VHS record/play deck, external DVD, Sony cordless
answering machine/phone with Marinco shore telephone connector and external
cable TV connector.
Electrical:
Two 8D AGM house batteries, One
group 31 AGM starting battery, Two 30 Amp 110 volt shorepower connections, with
two 40’ 30 Amp cords, Heart 2000 watt inverter/charger, AirMarine-X wind
generator. Link 2000 battery monitor/controller. Balmar 90 Amp alternator and
ARS-4 multi-stage regulator.
Deck:
Ritchie binnacle compass,
removable Edson wheel, dodger, bimini, aft deck cushions, windlass, cockpit
table, emergency tiller, two complete sets of dock lines, dual bow anchor
rollers with 60 lb. Bruce anchor, 45 lb. Bruce anchor, an aluminum Danforth
Fortress anchor on the aft quarter rail, and a 45 lb. Danforth style spade
anchor in storage. Two sets of life preservers, 25 mm flares & gun (current
set and an expired set), horseshoe buoy, dinghy davits, outboard motor hoist,
Lifesling MOB recovery system and a man overboard pole (not installed).
Other:
ACR 406 MHz EPIRB with hydrostatic release mount and
hydrostatic activation, PSS dripless shaft seal, AquaPro 9’ RIB dinghy with 8 HP
Honda 4-stroke outboard motor, Magma barbeque, 4 fire extinguishers, one of
which is located in the engine compartment and is automatically activated, and
an ATN TopClimber bosun chair. A reinforced equipment shelf located above the
engine is ideal for installing a generator and/or water maker. A DSC residential
type alarm system with motion detectors in all three cabins as well as the
cockpit. A combination smoke alarm and CO2 detector. A Doyle Marine QuickStep
boarding ladder, Dynaplate grounding system for SSB radio, Racor 500 series fuel
filter with pressure gauge and quick drain, propane pressure gauge, second spare
all aluminum propane tank and Arrow Pneumatics dehumidifier. Holding tank is
emptied via deck pumpout or Y-valve overboard discharge through an electric
macerator pump.
Sails and Rigging:
Aluminum mast and boom, all
stainless standing rigging, roller furling jib, self-tailing Lewmar 50 primary
winches, Lewmar 44 & Lewmar 30 secondary winches, traveler on stainless
steel arch, all halyards led aft, boom vang, Dutchman mainsail flaking system,
Dutchman boom brake, and two line jiffy reefing system.
Comments:
This well cared for Passage 42 has nice upgrades and shows like a much
newer boat! The Hunter Passage 42 model was somewhat unique when it was first
introduced, in that it was designed from the start to be a live-aboard/cruiser.
From the factory it came standard with a built-in TV/VCR, built-in microwave
oven and a stereo system with individually controlled speakers in the forward
cabin, main salon, aft cabin and cockpit. Additionally, the electrical panel was
pre-wired for forward and aft air conditioners, a generator and a washer/dryer
combo. The electrical and plumbing for the washer/dryer was already in place
from the factory as well as the air conditioning ducting for two air
conditioners (aft stateroom & main salon).

The pontoons are 7' long and 14" in diameter. The boat is very stable, easy for one person to carry, and fits easily into the back of a pickup or van. I have a 1996 Maxum 19 feet open-bow boat in good condition with minimal wear. It has a dependable and excellent running Yamaha 150hp oil injected V6 outboard motor. Motor has the Yamaha digital gauges with fuel management system and Yamaha 703 controls. The boat gets up on plane quickly and rides very smooth. This outboard is connect to a large capacity Yamaha Oil tank. No need to mix oil yourself.
Boat will seats up to 7 passengers. The interior is in good condition and is very spacious. The hull and gelcote have some small scratches but still looks very nice and shiny. Galvanized Maxum Trailer has PTI Tags and good tires. This boat and the trailer is registered and has current DMV tags. Back seats has some wear.

The 260 has a standard full batten main and 110 percent furling jib using halyards that are led neatly back to the cockpit.
This 260 has the wheel steering with remote electric start, throttle and gear shift for the 9.9HP 4 stroke Mercury. The rudder and the outboard are linked for easy steering under power and the remote electric tilt/trim can raise the motor completely out of the water without unlinking from the rudder. A Tack Tick wireless depth/speed system and Ritchie compass complete the helm set up.
The walk through stern boasts a telescoping hinged swimming ladder and a convenient platform for securing the kick up rudder. The cockpit can be covered by the bimini on warm sunny days and cockpit cushions are included for comfort while sailing or lounging.
